It’s better to make 1% of 100 peoples efforts rather than depending on 100% of your own efforts.
I first saw this written on a white board the month of November 1992. I was sitting in an Amway opportunity meeting that my older brother Martin brought me to.
I later read the book written by J. Paul Getty called “How to be Rich” where he coined that phrase. Now I was 36 years old and had a so called “good job”. I come from a union family where my father and brother and many relatives worked at GM so naturally up until that time I almost became a socialist/union mentality type of thinker just by association. This was not bad or good just a fact.
I didn’t even know what I didn’t know…..and I thought I was fairly educated and well read. Which I was but I was not shown or taught by anyone that there was a way to leverage myself through other peoples efforts by having them duplicate my actions as I was duplicating my leaders efforts.
J. Paul Getty did the same with his oil franchises. Many of the richest people in the worlds history have used networks of one type or another to become incredibly wealthy. Andrew Carnegie built railway networks from the steel his companies formed into rails for the train systems.
Fred Smith built a network to deliver parcels and packages globally in the company he owns called FedEx.
Bill Gates found a way to get his software into most computer desktops with Microsoft Windows. Now that is a very big network and made him the richest person in the world.
Now of course there are many traditional types of businesses where folks become wealthy and again the really wealthy ones for the most part have more than a couple of stores or have a network of stores.
For the last 60 years anyone has had the chance to build their own Network Marketing Business because of the Amway concept. Today of course with internet access the majority of the 79 million folks coming online globally look at joining a network marketing concept of some sort or something similar with multi levels of pay.
Now since there are mulitple reasons why this is happening one of the largest is the economic downturn globally. History shows that the network marketing industry surges upward in these times and now is even more so because of the leveraging power of the internet.
I believe that this is great for some of the 79 million new folks like I was 10 years ago when I came online and should be great for all of them but that’s not the case.
Even though in many ways it is easier to duplicate a residual income online than it was 10 years ago the question that arises is “Why do 95+% not make any money online with network marketing, affiliate marketing, direct response marketing, or any type of opportunity?”

This is my main point and I hope brand new folks take heed. Very few newbies know anything at all about networking or marketing and are simply overwhelmed by the “Guru’s” who know very well how to copyright to seperate the newbies from their cash. Most of these folks come from complete job mentality which will stop you before you start in any type of business.

Most people spend their entire lives being programmed by society to be a CONSUMER….They love to buy stuff. All kinds of stuff. That’s what the consumer society is all about. They never learn ENTREPRENEURSHIP or learn how to be the person doing the selling.
Marketing and salesmanship is actually frowned upon….funny and ironic that those 2 specialties of marketing and salesmanship is where the BIG MONEY has always been.

People also go through life programmed by society to be “okay” with mediocrity. Just getting by. Feeling bad about doing better than others.
It seems to be getting worse with entitlement mentality being preached by governments, schools, special interest groups and of course mainstream media. It’s a disease that’s everywhere. That’s a shame.

It was necessary in the industrial age where giant factories needed happy workers to put in 10+ hours of work daily without riots.
It’s become extreme in the last couple of decades. People are being programmed to be professional couch potatoes. They spend hours being hypnotized staring into a television set and then go out and by what the TV tells them to.

People spend all their lives to be programmed to be cynical, apathetic and skeptical about anything….and their accustomed to blaming someone else for their lots in life and their conditions.
These folks already stopped reading this.
The truth is that the formula for success in anything, sports, online, offline, anywhere…..IS TO FIRST CHANGE OUR MINDSET AND ATTITUDES!!

Some people with negative mental programming and bad attitudes come online….and they assume they can keep their same routines, same mindset, make no changes to themselves….and MIRACLE UPON MIRACLE SOMETHING ON THE INTERNET WILL HELP THEM MAKE MONEY…..
They seek out mystical “gurus” and DEMAND that they make them successful. Their adversarial from the start of their relationship and whine and complain that their guru, system, or program has not “worked” yet.
We used to tell these folks in the old Amway training system which was phenomenal if you used it…to take the cassettes and later CD’s out of the wrappers. You know the good stuff is on the inside right?

Now not everyone is this way but a scary amount ARE LIKE THIS and I am writing this with the masses and newbies in mind so they are not surprised when connecting with leaders.
THE VERY FIRST STEP TO SUCCESS is to put some good stuff in your head. This will start the process of DRAMATIC changes in your life.
Start by reading a book.
I know, revolutionary but I know many people who will NOT read one book. The book just needs to be in the personal growth category.

My first book 20 years ago was “Seeds of Greatness” by Dennis Waitley. After that I ate them up. Napoleon Hill’s “Think and Grow Rich”, “Attitude” by Les Giblin…just start with one. Get HOOKED on your own personal growth system.
Use other mediums, audios, now Youtube for free…it’s everywhere so just do it.
Get positive, abundant, mind and spirit expanding info between your ears.
Believe it or not this will really help your marketing.
You will then have value to share through your marketing and social media rather than spamming. I truly know YOUR MINDSET IS STEP 1!

So if you are at a point in your internet marketing, MLM sales career where you are feeling beat up and burned out working with people who are brand new to the industry at least keep yourself invigorated through self help.
If you haven’t run into the ones who “claim” they want to be financially free but as soon as you mention the start up cost they make excuses, you will.
If your downline or associates have turned into a massive pool of folks who blame you for the fact that they bought a website and some product but aren’t rich yet put some good stuff in your head. Help yourself no one else will do it for you.
I’ve heard people say “you need to motivate me”. HUH?? WHAT??
Motivation comes from within folks. Only you can inspire you. If you will do that you will attract other people who are self motivated.
That is my short answer why 95% don’t make money.
